International Land Coalition (ILC) Director

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTDIRECTORThe International Land Coalition (ILC) is an innovative global alliance of civil society and intergovernmental organizations working together to promote access to land for poor women and men through advocacy, dialogue and capacity building.
ILC's vision is that secure and equitable access to land reduces poverty and contributes to identity, dignity and inclusion.The ILC is an autonomous institution collaborating with more than 40 countries through member-led regional strategies and global initiatives. The secretariat is hosted in Rome, Italy, by the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
The ILC Council is seeking a forward-looking and results-oriented Director for its global secretariat. The Director is accountable to the Coalition Council which is comprised of senior officials of United Nations agencies, the European Commission, the World Bank, other multilateral organisations, research institutions and Civil Society Organisations who, by constitution, comprise not less than sixty percent of the coalition's voting membership.
The position of Director offers a unique opportunity to build ILC into an internationally recognized brand as a global convenor of diverse stakeholders working together for pro-poor land governance. Responsible, with the Council, for the development and implementation of a multi-year Strategic Framework, the Director has overall responsibility for managing the secretariat operations, programmes and resource mobilisation.
The appointee will have major representational responsibilities and networking roles with senior policy makers at national, regional and international levels.The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record in managing diverse and often conflicting views given the multi-stakeholder nature of the ILC and the political sensitivity of the issues involved.
The Director will have strong skills in team building, promoting dialogue among diversities and facilitating consensus. He/she will bring practical experience in working at the interface of civil-society, intergovernmental and governmental organisations.Additional qualifications:. Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, anadvanced degree in a related field and familiarity with land issues in relation to the rights of poor men and women.. Leadership and management experience in developing andimplementing a multi-stakeholder strategic framework and regionalised programme of work.. Creativity and capacity to lead in the context of dynamic anddiverse country and regional contexts.. Ability to facilitate policy dialogue among governments, civil society and intergovernmental organisations.. Demonstrated skills in building and supervising jointstakeholder action plans with measurable results.. Strong ability to support the coalition's governance bodies andto provide day-to-day operational management and resource mobilisation.. Experience and commitment to resource mobilisation.. Excellent English language skills and fluency in French and/orSpanish.
The position is at the D-1 level and will be offered on a two year fixed term, renewable contract.
