IDEAcarbon helps investors, institutions, and professionals plan their way through regulations on greenhouse gas emissions and the opportunities presented by national and international emissions trading schemes.
As part of our expansion plans we are looking for policy and/or economic analysts in London starting this summer.

Position/Title: Senior Analyst/Researcher (London)

Responsibilities:

• Provide written research on emissions-trading markets, project-based carbon offset markets, regulation and policies, incorporating an economics-based analysis of government and international regulations.
• Provide forward-looking analysis of legislative proposals and international negotiations over a post-2012 global framework for climate change action.
• Client and media interaction are also involved in the position, as IDEAcarbon is often sought out for its views on the emissions markets.

Desired Qualifications:

• Minimum degree-level qualifications in Economics, Environmental Economics/Policy or related subjects. Masters’ qualification preferred.
• Familiarity with the workings of the UNFCCC and the Kyoto Protocol, particularly the project-based mechanisms, is required.
• Familiarity with US regional carbon markets and federal legislative issues would be a bonus.
• Strong statistical and analytical skills.
• Awareness and understanding of energy markets.
• Ability to interface easily with clients/media;
• Strong writing and general communication skills;
• Language skills preferred.
