ICRAF - Landscape Hydrologist

ICRAF is recruiting LANDSCAPE HYDROLOGIST, based in Bogor, Indonesia.

The Position
ICRAF is implementing a project on "Trees in multi-Use Landscapes in Southeast Asia (TUL-SEA): A negotiation support toolbox for Integrated Natural Resource Management" that aims to sharpen the tools for problem appraisal to be used in mainstream devel­op­­ment processes, identify targets for academic follow-up research, involve NARS and contribute direct­ly to negotiated solutions for important tradeoffs. It involves partners across SE Asia, with training courses and support of local application of a series of appraisal tools ICRAF developed including the Rapid Hydrological Appraisal method.



Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following tasks:

Implement Rapid Hydrological Appraisals based on local, public and modelers knowledge.
Develop and maintain a watershed model that allows analysis of consequences of land use change
Develop interfaces linking existing model with spatial data.
Contribute to capacity building for national partners in land use and watershed management
Qualifications and Skills Required:

Familiarity through university study and work experience with Integrated Natural Resource Management approaches including hydrology, agro-meteorology 3-4 years work experience
Experience with process-based models of the rainfall-soil- plant-atmosphere continuum
Experience in GIS and or Spatial Analysis
Good English communication skills: correspondence with project partners, newsletter contributions
Experience with and affinity for international and inter-cultural cooperation
Excellent capability to work under limited supervision
Computer and internet literate
Terms of offer
This is a Nationally Professional Fixed Term position with a competitive salary and benefits package.
The contract is for a period of two years, with possibility of renewal subject to assessment of performance, and availability of resources.
