National Geographic conservation project in Aceh - Team Member (URGENT)
Looking for a young, female, Acehnese team member to join a field study about communities living in the Leuser Ecosystem in Aceh. This project is being sponsored by the National Geographic Society and the project team includes two American and one Acehenese researcher.



The aim of the project is to understand the lives of local communities, how communities interact with and use their environment, and the forest destruction in the Leuser ecosystem.

Time Frame: 8 weeks. Approximately October 10 – December 20. Project dates to be finalized.

Payment: Salary of $20 per day and all food/ housing/transportation costs during the course of the project.

Responsibilities: Conducting and translating into English interviews with community members. Project will involve living in village sites within the Leuser ecosystem and travelling between these sites through the jungle. Applicant should be eager to spend time in the jungle in Aceh and to learn about the lives of these communities. Applicants should be prepared for the conditions of living in these villages during the project and to work closely with other team members. Should be interested in environmental conservation and/or community livelihoods.

Requirements:
• Female, Acehnese
• Speaks English and Bahasa Aceh
• Available during full project time frame (October – December)
