VArious position at The Nature Conservancy Indonesia (due July, 4 2008)

The Nature Conservancy is a global conservation organization dedicated to preserving the plants, animals, and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.


In Indonesia we are located in various sites. Due to the expansion of our program, We are seeking dedicated candidates who are passionate about our mission for the following positions



MONITORING AND EVALUATION COORDINATOR – Bali
Designing and developing the monitoring and evaluation mechanism in support of TNC marine conservation programs. Responsible to monitor and evaluate results, and production of program and donor reports against the set deliverables and timetables of grant agreements. Develop project measurement methods and protocol/s for all program sites and Prepare annual work. Qualifications; Masters Degree in social science, M&E or related fields, At least five years of progressive responsibility in conservation or development programs in a monitoring and evaluation capacity. Thorough familiarity with principles and current approaches to monitoring and evaluation of development programs using both quantitative and qualitative methods

COMMUNICATION AND PHILANTROPHY MANAGER - Balikpapan
Planning, developing, and implementing the communication and outreach strategies to increase and sustain public awareness and support forest conservation activities. Develops and fosters relations with key persons in selected media and related fields. Oversees the dissemination of information to local, regional, national and international media. Qualifications: Minimum bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, and Marketing, Public Relations or related field and 10 years related experience or equivalent combination. Master’s degree preferred. Knowledge of managing media relation with a proven track record in achieving high profile media results, Strong network of contracts in the media, government and industry.

FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION MANAGER - Bali
Providing overall direction for all activities related to finance, administration, human resources, facilities, and office management. Responsible for development and implementation of annual budgets and projections, management reporting, and policies and goals in each of these areas. Qualifications: Master’s degree in finance & accounting, and 7 -10 years of related work experience at this level. Successful experience in leading strategic program goals experienced leading and developing employees and service oriented.

MARINE / FISHERIES LEGAL SPECIALIST – Bali
Providing Legal analysis/opinion, writing draft legislation, and advice on the legal aspects of marine conservation in Indonesia . Develop a legal R&D in close collaboration with international legal institute. Qualifications: Minimum master degree or equivalent and a license to practice in at least one jurisdiction. With at least 10 years related legal experience. And knowledgeable on Marine Law and fisheries including Law 31/2004.

POLICY AND FINANCING MANAGER – Bali
Developing policies, laws and regulations on marine conservation, sustainable coastal fisheries and marine eco-tourism. Work closely with government of Indonesia to help develop subsidiary regulations required under relevant existing Laws.. Qualifications: M Sc. degree and at least 7 years experiences in marine conservation. Specializing in one or more of the following disciplines: marine and coastal policy affairs, coastal zone management, natural resources management, fisheries management and Marine Protected Area management. At least 10 years experience with natural resources management in Indonesia and or Islands countries.

FORESTRY LEGAL SPECIALIST - Balikpapan
Providing Legal analysis/opinion, writing drafts legislation, and advice on the legal aspects of forestry in Indonesia . Develop a legal R&D in close collaboration with international legal institute Qualifications: Minimum master degree or equivalent and a license to practice in at least one jurisdiction. With at least 10 years related legal experience. And excel on the Forestry Ministerial Regulation No. P.19/Menhut-II/2004 and Indonesian Forestry Law.

GRANT COORDINATOR – Bali
Responsible for the administration of all aspects of Coral Triangle Center (CTC) grants, review of proposals and preparation of budgets, set-up in central finance systems, preparation and submission of all invoices and financial reports to agencies, and maintenance of master agreement files. Clarify or negotiate financial and administrative requirements of agreements. Ensure that the terms and conditions of agreements are met and properly documented. Responsible for tracking the resolution of action items detailed in audit response work plans. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or business administration and 3 to 5 years related experience or equivalent combination. Minimum 3 years of successful experience in government grants administration preferred.


CONSTITUENCYBUILDINGADVISOR – Sorongm - Papua
Providing advice to a team on MPA development in Raja Ampat Islands , and liaise with government and partners in the Papua - Bird’s Head marine eco-region on marine spatial planning, MPA network development. Advising site Project Leaders on: MPA design and program planning, implementation of MPA management in coordination with local partners, evaluation and measuring of success, and coordination of surveillance with local authorities. Develop and implement a strong constituency building strategy in Papua. Qualifications: Master’s degree and at least 10 years working experience in spatial planning, environmental conservation, wildlife protection and/or coastal resources management, Advanced spatial planning and partnership building skills and willingness. The candidate is required to have good relations with local stakeholder and knows the area as well.

TRAINING AND LEARNING MANAGER – Bali
Developing a strategy to build and expand (regionally and globally) a systematic training and learning program at Coral Triangle Center (CTC) in Bali aimed at providing the needed skills and knowledge to stakeholders to support establishment and effective management of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in Indonesia and the wider Coral Triangle countries. Identify and establish potential partnerships with government, NGO, universities and donor agencies in designing, planning and implementing such training and learning strategy. Helps to raise funds for overall functional initiatives and/or specific projects, by providing input for proposal writing, negotiating with bilateral and multilateral agencies and donor cultivation as needed. Qualifications: Master’s degree and at least 5 years’ experience in the same functional field, or equivalent. PhD’s degree may be preferred

COMMUNITY AND OUTREACH COORDINATOR – Derawan – East Kalimantan
Developing and implementing the outreach activities to create a strong support toward the development of Berau Marine Protected Area system in the district among stakeholders and local and regional constituents. Coordinates the administrative and operational aspects of outreach and Community building program. Qualifications: Master degree preferred in biological sciences, natural resources, communications, environmental or community management studies or education and 3-5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

TIS COORDINATOR - Bali
Maintains information technology systems (including PC and LAN/WAN equipment) for CTC Program offices, provides IT operations functions to CTC staff for the organization’s standard hardware, software and voice/data network solutions. Monitors, optimizes performance and provides disaster recovery service for the information systems in CTC Program Offices. Qualifications: Undergraduate degree (BSc or S1) in computer science, or other relevant disciplines and Experience in developing and maintaining local area network system, including router, Linux server & networking administration: TCP/IP, File sharing, etc

OPERATION COORDINATOR – Wakatobi - Sulawesi
Provides overall direction for all activities related to administration, personnel, facilities, information systems, office management, responsible for development and implementation of annual budgets and manages the processes for annual planning, Responsible for the management, maintenance and reporting of all financial data related to an Operating Unit. This includes annual budget development, monitoring and maintaining all financial information, (including the accounts payable system, funds received and receivable, and travel reimbursements), and processing of internal financial forms. May also be responsible for coordinating the procurement of materials, supplies and services for the organization in a financially-sound manner. Researches and selects sources, approves purchase orders, controls prices and quality. Maintains contact with suppliers for information affecting prices, availability and delivery. Negotiates purchase contracts
and develops schedules for delivery of products. Responsible for compiling and managing the purchasing budget and handling gifts from donation organizations. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years related experience or equivalent combination.
