Job Description:
World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the global conservation organization, seeks a Chief of Party. This individual will plan, coordinate and oversee project activities related to a contract between WWF and USAID to support marine conservation in the Coral Triangle (CT) of SE Asia/Western Pacific.

Countries include Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Timor Leste. The project will run for five years as of September 1, 2008, and will be implemented by a Consortium of WWF, The Nature Conservancy and Conservation International. Direct a staff of 3 - 5 people, oversee grants and consulting contracts, coordinate with Consortium staff in the region and their headquarters on a daily basis, and collaborate with a range of government and partner organizations across the region in accordance with USAID and WWF field operation regulations.

Basic Requirements:
An advanced degree in a related field is required. At least 10 years of field experience managing large, complex conservation and/or natural resource management projects is required - mostly in Asia and/or the Pacific and preferably in coastal and marine systems. Demonstrated capacity to manage large aid agency-funded projects – with some USAID project management experience required. Experience working with NGOs and grant facilities highly desirable.

Must possess excellent leadership and management skills and a strong background in conservation, development and/or natural resource management. Must be a team player with very strong diplomatic skills. Management skills must include technical oversight, administration and financial management, large-scale planning, community based strategies, and participatory and adaptive management approaches. Position requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and institution strengthening and training skills. The individual must reside in the region (preferably Indonesia) and be willing to travel up to 50 % of the time. The closing date for accepting applications to this position is June 24th.
