GHG DIAGNOSIS CONSULTANT, THAILAND Organization: Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Post Date: 15 September 2014 Location: Seoul Assignment: Consultant Position Number: GGGI-HR_14-122 Closing Date: 28 September 2014 INTRODUCTION The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is a new international organization committed to strong, inclusive green growth. We assist developing and emerging countries with integrating their ambitions for strong economic performance and environmental sustainability with the goal of bringing about poverty reduction, job creation, social inclusion, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. Headquartered in Seoul, GGGI was established by treaty in June 2012 at the United Nations Rio+20 Conference by an initial group of eighteen nations who share the organization's vision. As of 2014, there are a total of 22 Member Countries who have joined the organization. GGGI has a diverse portfolio of programs in developing countries around the world. These in-country programs, together with global products and services, focus on delivering results through an integrated approach of evidence-based green growth planning and implementation aligned to countries' development priorities. The organization also focuses on knowledge development and management activities which build a strong theoretical and empirical basis for green growth, while providing concrete options and guidance for policymakers; as well as building the conditions for public and private green infrastructure investments. GGGI’s Thailand Country Program was launched in August 2014 to assist the Royal Thailand Government in the implementation of the (draft) Climate Change Master Plan by developing a clear roadmap for greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction in selected three industrial sub-sectors of the Thai economy. The Program has three major components: (1) sector diagnostic; (2) GHG reduction roadmap; (3) project governance, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building. JOB DESCRIPTION  Work closely with the team in carrying out a diagnostic assessment of industrial GHG emissions, which includes and is not limited to: o Identify and confirm the most appropriate three industrial sub-sectors to engage with; o Identify synergies between the project component and any ongoing activities of the Government, private sector, and other development agencies in relation to the selected sub-sectors; o Perform a high-level assessment of Thailand’s existing GHG inventory in relation to completeness and accuracy of industry emissions and recommendations for improvement; o Perform high-level economic characterization of industrial sub-sectors, e.g. number of firms, size, current technologies in use; o Identify emissions trends and existing GHG reduction policies; o Identify key stakeholders including government departments, industry associations, academic institutions, and private entities; and o Recommendations on component scope and approach to each sector.  Participate and contribute to stakeholder meetings; and  Other duties as may be required by the senior management. Qualificatoion Experience: Minimum five years of experience in relevant areas such as national GHG inventory, industrial GHG reduction, and climate change mitigation is required. An experience in developing analytical works and report, project management, and research is an asset.  Professional skills: Ability to work independently and under pressure and meet deadline.  Education: Master’s degree in relevant fields  Language: Fluency in written and spoken English and Thai is essential.
